Information & Networking (I & N)
The I & N component of AUDMP aims to help build public and private networks as a forum for exchanging
information and experience on urban disaster management, with the goal of replicating successful hazard mitigation practices from the demonstration projects throughout the region.
The Information and networking component has two main objectives:
- To provide the necessary information and networking support to partner institutions and individuals in order to implement national projects in the most effective manner possible.
- To support the replication and diffusion of disaster mitigation techniques demonstrated by the national projects, both within project countries and throughout the region.
An AUDMP Information Strategy was produced in 1996 which explores information goals, projected needs, systems required for information management, and suggests actions to implement the Strategy.
Since the inception of the AUDMP, the I & N component has been extending support to all project partners and has been involved in organization of a number of regional and national knowledge sharing events to help identify and embed successful disaster mitigation practices in cities and communities of the region. The I&N component works closely with the other two components, viz. Demonstration Projects and Training, Resource Materials and Continuing Education (TRMCE) in reducing the disaster vulnerability of urban populations, infrastructure, critical facilities and shelter in targeted cities throughout Asia.
