The Dave
Hollister Fellowship is a fellowship to commemorate ADPC’s beloved
former Deputy Executive Director, Dave Hollister, who passed away in
a tragic car accident on March 13, 2010. Dave was an architect by
profession, but with his fond with humanitarian works, he had worked
extensively in disaster management and development fields in Asia,
Africa and other developing countries for more than 20 years.
Dave
worked with ADPC from 1992 to 2002, with many years in charge of
multi-year, multi-country Asian Urban Disaster Mitigation Program
and the last three years as a Deputy Executive Director following
the establishment of ADPC as a regional foundation. He was loved by
everyone around him for his personality, sense of humor and
dedication to his work.
This Dave
Hollister Fellowship is granted to young professional in DRR field
to conduct a short-term research and study in innovative areas of
DRR at ADPC to contribute to the progression of the field as Dave
has done during his years with ADPC. The fellowship is limited to a
maximum of 3 months and a candidate will receive technical guidance
from ADPC senior professional staffs. A month prior to his/her
arrival to ADPC, the successful candidate is encouraged to
pre-collect necessary data and information for the study. By the end
of the fellowship, the candidate shall submit a written report on
the fellowship study as well as a paper on the study outcome. The
research paper shall be contributed and published in the ADPC
newsletter.
