Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar – Priority Areas of Myanmar’s Action Plan on Disaster Risk Reduction will be addressed next month in the National Training Course on Mainstreaming Disaster and Climate Risk Management in Development from 4-8 March 2013 at Nay Pyi Taw. Approximately 30 government officials, most of whom are in the planning sector, will participate in the course. The course is developed and facilitated by the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, and the Ministry of National Planning and Economic Development. Generously supported by Norway’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and AusAID, ADPC is the program’s technical partner.
The participants, who come from seven states and regions, will take part in approximately 16 sessions over five days, which will include discussions on topics such as Understanding Vulnerability and Exposure in Myanmar and Measures to Address Disaster and Climate Risk. Honorable and Deputy Ministers from both the Planning and Social Welfare Ministries, and Executive Director of ADPC, Prof. (Dr.) Krasae Chanawongse, are expected to attend the opening ceremony.
