ADPC provides technical assistance to Relief and Resettlement Department (RRD), Government of Myanmar on reviewing and updating of Course Curriculum on Disaster Management for Government Functionaries. The Disaster Management Course (DMC) has been conducted by RRD since 1977. With the growing importance of DRR after Cyclone Nargis, an increasing number of DMC courses have been delivered to various government functionaries. It’s highly important to review and update the course curriculum to include up-to-date knowledge and skills on DRR so as to equip them to prevent disaster related losses in Myanmar. This initiative is supported by DRR Working Group, Myanmar and CARE Myanmar.

The consultation was held on 13th December, 2011 in Nay Pyi Taw (picture above) with Relief and Resettlement Department, concerned government agencies including Ministry of Health, Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH), DRR Working Group and CARE Myanmar to review the current curriculum and discuss way forward for updating.
